If you live in the US and want a broad selection of Desi Programming, then your best option is either Dish Network or DirecTV. Unless you live in an area with lot of South Asian population (like NJ or Bay Area), the cable companies probably do not carry the Indian channels. If they do carry, its usually not more than 3 or 4. The satellite companies offer many more channels with Dish Network having the best
offering with over 15 channels including Cricket Channels.

One of the problems, many South Asians face is the headache of getting a dish installed. Most apartments do not allow it or the apartment is not facing the satellite or the state law requires insurance etc. I personally never had a dish till we bought a home.

Dish IPTV now offers the Desi programming (Hindi, Urdu and also Arabic) via the Internet now using a small device that you plugin to the Internet so all the headaches of getting a dish etc are no longer there. The cost of service is the same as what you would pay via the satellite (59.99 for Mega Pack etc). The IPTV device costs $115 (s/h) but is free with one year commitment.
